A School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) is a group appointed by a school
district to advise on and strengthen the health of students and the school community.
These councils, composed of community and school representatives, help ensure
health education reflects local values and promote a connection between health and
learning. Their role includes advising on policies and making recommendations for
coordinated school health programs that cover areas like physical education, nutrition, and mental health.
