MS/HS Theater Arts

The Theater Arts program at Winona ISD offers creative and performance opportunities for both middle school and high school students, encouraging self-expression, confidence, and collaboration through the dramatic arts.

Students in the program explore a wide range of theatrical experiences, both on stage and behind the scenes. Whether performing, directing, designing, or working tech, every student has a chance to contribute and grow.

Opportunities in the Winona Theater program include:

  • UIL One Act Play – Competing in this statewide event allows students to perform powerful, high-quality productions and receive professional adjudication.

  • Student-Directed Plays – Giving students leadership and creative control, these performances allow young directors to bring their vision to life.

  • Non-UIL Plays – From comedies to dramas, the theater program produces a variety of shows that showcase student talent and entertain the community.

  • Technical Theater – Students gain hands-on experience with lighting, sound, set design, and backstage crew work for both theatrical productions and school-wide events.

The theater program fosters a supportive and inclusive environment where students learn valuable skills in public speaking, problem-solving, teamwork, and artistic expression. Whether center stage or behind the curtain, there’s a place for everyone in Winona Theater.
