We are proud to welcome A. Cuba and W. Muñiz as newly commissioned armed security officers. Both Officer Cuba and Officer Muñiz have successfully completed all required Level 3 training, received their DPS commission, and finalized their Letter of Authority under Chief Arteaga’s supervision to serve as armed security within our district.
This expansion has been approved for some time by Superintendent Mr. Cowart and the Winona I.S.D. School Board, and with all documentation and licensing now in place, they officially began their duties last week.
With the passing of Texas House Bill 3 (HB 3), all school districts are now required to have at least one armed officer on every campus and we will now meet those requirements as well as majorly increasing security.
Here’s is a look at the Police and Security Team
· Chief Arteaga – (Texas State Peace Officer) Handles the Law such as issuing tickets, making arrest etc... and is the director over the security team.
· Officer L. Green – (TX. DPS Commissioned Level 3 Armed Security Guard)
· Officer A. Cuba - (TX. DPS Commissioned Level 3 Armed Security Guard Guard)
· Officer W. Muñiz – (TX. DPS Commissioned Level 3 Armed Security Guard)
· L. Romero – (Security Guard)
While each officer will primarily cover their assigned area, all five will work closely together and will respond district-wide whenever needed.
We’d like to extend a special thank you to Mr. Cowart and the School Board for their continued support and commitment to the safety of our students and staff. When you see them, be sure to thank them for making this investment in our district’s security.
Let’s all have a safe and successful remainder of the school year!
