This week has given us a chance to demonstrate our leadership and ability to function as a team (across the campus). We had days where 129 Wildcats and 14 teacher leaders were ill;however, we made it .....together. You are valued and appreciated for the seen and unseen things that you do as you contribute and sacrifice.
Also, we thank you for your thoughtful completion and submissions of your letter of intents. It is my hope that we will follow up with those of you who indicated that desire, because it is our hope to again express our appreciation to you.
Have a restful, virus-free, and warmer weekend!

Welcome back family! It is great seeing you and hopefully you have a lot of time recharging again. As we move forward, there are a couple of things we would like for you to consider:
1) We will move forward with our cafeteria/recess revisions later this week, once a few tweaks are made. Thanks for your openness and willingness to work together to address challenges. #ProblemSolvingAtItsBest
2) We will have Teachers Training Teachers this Wednesday after dismissal. A sign up will be sent out today, so be on the lookout.
Finally, teacher with urgency and expectancy. Urgency is needed because we are on the 2nd half of a great year. Expectancy because it is not wise to dig for diamonds not expecting to find them. Dig deep, through, and in spite of because there is value in you and diamonds.
We love you and are glad that you are here!

After careful consideration and ongoing monitoring of the current and forecasted weather conditions, Winona ISD has made the decision to close schools on Thursday, January 9th, and Friday, January 10th, 2025. This decision was not made lightly but with the safety and well-being of our students, staff, and community as our top priority.
The decision to close schools is based on the following safety considerations:
1. Hazardous Travel Conditions: Local weather reports indicate the likelihood of icy roads and unsafe driving conditions to develop on Thursday, 1/9. We are committed to ensuring the safety of our students, staff, and families who travel to and from school each day.
2. Severe Weather Forecast: Predicted freezing temperatures, coupled with precipitation Thursday night, create increased risks for travel and outdoor activities, including school arrival on Friday 1/9.
3. Limited Accessibility: Adverse weather may impact transportation routes, making it difficult for buses and vehicles to navigate rural roads and hills safely in certain areas within Winona ISD.
We encourage all families to stay updated through district communications, including our website and social media channels, for any additional updates or changes.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding. Please take precautions, stay warm, and stay safe during this weather event.

This is a list of things that teachers need to do prior to leaving today, in the event that we do not return due to snow. Nothing has been determined, but we are wanting to plan ahead.
--Unplug any refrigerators or heaters. Please take out any perishable items
--Take any materials home for planning that you might need to ensure you are ready for Monday - for example: HQIM, handouts from training such as thinking maps that must be incorporated into lesson plans, materials to plan your small groups/agmo, chrome book to access Edugence to plan STAAR like questions for daily exposure, etc.
--Parental contacts made for tutorials to begin the week of 1/13/25 (if you are starting now).
Most of all, please take care of yourselves and families. Stay safe and warm. We will see you when we see you!

We are excited to welcome back our Wildcats at WES. Dress warm and please make sure names are on the inside of your coats, and be ready to learn and grow even more as we start our 2025.
Students that are dropped off in the front will need to remain in vehicles until the front doors open (7:25 a.m.) and pick up is 3:40 p.m. Please ensure that our Wildcats get a great rest tonight and start off their day tomorrow positively.
Let's go Wildcats!
Dr Young

Our WES Data meeting will begin at 1 p.m. Please make sure you are present with devices and/or writing materials (i.e. paper, pens, pencils, etc.) to help in capturing information that will be critical part of our plan of improvement as we move forward into 2025.
Encourage your team to have an open mind upon entering and consider how the data will help us identify glows and grows up to this moment in the school year. Please no sidebar conversations and write down any questions that you have pertaining to data, in the event that Mrs. Kelli Blaylock presents something that you need further insight.
This meeting is for all classroom and instructional staff (i.e. dyslexia, special education, interventionists, etc.). Paraprofessionals and office staff will not need to attend.
Afterwards we will work in our classrooms finalizing plans for our Wildcats return for tomorrow morning. We will remain on campus until 3:45 p.m.

WES Wildcats would like to thank you for a great start of our school year. This is a reminder that we begin our Holiday Break starting tomorrow at 12:00 p.m. Car tags will be needed for dismissal.
Also, any lost and found items not claimed by tomorrow will be donated.

WES Wildcats invite you to meeting with our PTO, as you look for ways to become/stay involved with the many positive things occurring with our Wildcats. Our meeting will be held tonight at 6 p.m. in the library.

As weather/time has changed and we are amidst the middle part of the year, please remember the hours for arrival and dismissal. We want to ensure that our Wildcats are supervised and safe, so please make sure you assist in drop offs and pick ups.
7:25 a.m.---Please keep students in cars until the front doors open.
3:45 p.m.---Dismissal begins and we need students picked up at that time. There are no after school services.
Thanks for your help,
Dr. Young

We have had some great days this week and wanted to make sure you were aware of the following information. Our Picture Retake day is tomorrow at WES and the Picture Day ID: EVTRWDFVJ
Also, we are attaching the remaining dress up days as we approach our holidays.

We are so glad to see each of you in full stride, and our Wildcats are ecstatic to have you here. Please know that we are in a crucial time of keeping the instructional momentum going forward, and there are a few places we are seeing some evidence of great learning.
As we keep moving forward, I am including two links that will help us. The first link is to assist if you are in need of instructional support as well as informing you that there will be a box to submit your instructional needs of support in the lounge and front office. The second link is for you to share leadership with the stafff as we keep moving each other forward, because we are powerful when we do this work together. Our Wildcats will be better as a result!
We are glad that you are here.....let me hear you ROAR/1
